"Twin Arts" - 48" x 40" - oil on linen

This painting is particularly meaningful to me; it is both a double portrait of myself and my twin sister, and an allegory representing the intimate connection between art and music. To give you some background, Emily and I are mirror image twins - we are technically fraternal, but we grew up looking alike, sounding alike, and exercising similar talents and interests.  We were both artistic, and both musical, but Emily leaned more towards the musical side - playing piano and writing songs (she even wrote the music I walked down the aisle to at my wedding!) - and I chose a path that led me more towards art. In this portrait I hope to reveal something about us and our completely unique situation. Our special friendship is intensified by a spirit of competitiveness - yet we are extremely close and understand each other in ways no one else can.

There are detail pictures on my website: http://www.artworkbyannarose.com/portfolio.html

The symbolism and technique are lovely.  The Young Explorer is also a very beautiful painting.  Congratulations.

Dear Anna-Rose, everything is great in this painting - a masterpiece! You did exclusive portraits of your family members with a lot of love and talent, I like them all, but this one will belong to the timeless Art. I wish you an immense success with it!

Anna-Rose, I have been watching this develop on your website, and I am thrilled that it appeared here today. I think it is the most beautiful "conversation" between the arts, the differences, the similarities and particularly you both. What a beautiful, timeless piece of work. Congratulations!   Now, do you have to duplicate it for Emily???  Super, super work.

Well, you lucked out. You're not only talented, you're both gorgeous as well!

You are accomplished enough to know that gorgeous (in this case, stunning) people do not always, the best portraits make. You have done an exceptional job of making attractive people interesting.  The story is well concieved and I like the composition.

Technically, in my view, this is one of your best efforts... I mean, you are good no matter what you do but this and about three others on your site are quite outstanding.

One more thing... I suppose the carpet detail called for more ambition and "stick-with-it" that you thought you had???

The Carpet and paint palette details are just incredible. When I grow up, I just want to be just like you ;)

Anna, this is so amazing in more ways than I can count. The concept, composition and execution of this are superb. The eye movement, graceful line, beautiful color, harmony of color and design, contrast of values, repetition of elements with slight variation, comparison of the arts - there are way too many amazing elements in this to even begin to mention them all. But then I think you have already figured out that I think your art exhibits a standard and quality that any realist artist would love to try to live up to.

Beautiful work!  The details are wonderful. I almost feel the carpet as if I were invited to put my feet on it. Congratulations!

Dear artist friends,

THANK YOU! Your comments mean so much! I hope that this painting serves as an inspiration to women artists especially, as I understand how hard it is to make it in the art world. Thank you, ALL!

After reading your bio, I thought that we have a great deal in common. In actually fact, besides being a portrait artist and painter I am a missionary to Europe and Italy in particularly (my home is in Parma). I teach "Cultural Apologetics", do evangelism and train missionary / church leaders in a variety of locations.

I began in live in Oklahoma and Texas and was last in Minnesota for eleve years before moving to South Carolina.

To say "what a beautiful painting" only says the obvious!  Kinda reminds me of Eakins, and as good as any he did.
