In the early morning hours on a typical winter work day in Manhattan I came across this ConEd worker standing at an open manhole. A cloud of steam eminated from underground creating an airy and somewhat mysterious sense of atmosphere. The Metropolitan Museum is in the background.

I really like this painting.

Working men make such interesting subjects.

He seems to have such an expression on his face, I just can't make it out but it is like he is in deep thought!

Maryanna, Thanks so much for responding to my painting, " ConEd Man in Steam".  I wanted his face and expression to be just barely visible in an attempt to add a sense of mystery to the scene. He was totally unaware that I had taken his picture and that added to my being able to capture a very natural pose.

Thanks again.
