This is a 16x20 acrylic painting of the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse in Maine. It is a work in progress as the rocks need some work. I paint in my spare time mostly landscapes, seascapes and old barns. Any suggestions / comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Very nice work, Russ. Interesting perspective with the lighthouse and the trees leaning to the right a bit. Gives kind of a panoramic lens type effect.

Very nice painting! Love the sky , the sailing ship and the trees as well as the shape of the building. To make your building look 3D think about where the light is coming from and paint the wall away from the light a shade darker. To get spray coming off your water up the rocks use a toothbrush and flick the paint on by pulling your finger along the paint loaded bristles. For next time you paint, to give rocks more texture with acrilic use this little tip. Paint a blob of colour in 3 different shades then gently swipe downwards with a palette knife; Or another tip, paint in dark acrylic and then swipedown featherlike with your palette knife with another lighter shade whilst the first colour is still wet. Practice on spare paper and use black behind, white on top to see the affect. As Bob Ross used to say, think of yourself as a whisper coming down the rock. It really works when you get the hang of it and you do not need to paint each rock individually.
