What a beautiful sight. I especially like the atmosphere in this painting.

May I ask if the canvas is a bit wider? Especially in front of the bird...I hope.

Thanks for your comments.  Kells, I intentionally offset the egret toward the right edge to create some visual tension.  Placing the bird toward the center would have been too static for my taste.

I like!  Do you use a 'Flemish' technique?

BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!

Phillip, I did use the Flemish technique in the sense I let the white base (acrylic gesso in this case) "shine through" the white areas of the bird. I mainly layered with glazes except for the dark areas of water.

Thanks!

This is gorgous work but I would have liked more in front and less in back so it didn't look like it was flying off the page. I am in awe of your craftsmanship.

strikingly crisp!

Very well done.  I also agree that the bird should be flying into the canvas rather than heading out, however this is still a stunning piece!  Congrats.

Beautiful!  Did you say you used acrylics? Very nice, I agree with you, offseting the bird to the right give action.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Cristy- I used oils for the painting  over an acrylic gesso base.

Cheers!

I think the egret is perfectally placed, it really grabbed my attention. Beautiful!
