OK, can I offer a spot of overall critique? I'm looking at the faces in your paintings, and I feel like you're mimicking Malcolm T. Liepke a little - the flat lighting, greenish skin tones, red noses, dashes of light at the slightly smiling corners of the mouths, and dabs of white producing a shinier skin texture than is really there (particularly on the tip of the nose). You're doing it well, but Liepke's got a whole flock of artists following this set of techniques at this point, and work of yours like "Beach Buddies," with its more impressionist rendering of light and color, shows that you're not technically limited to doing what he does. So my vote would be that, however much you might like this mode of representation, you branch out and explore other ones as well. I think you've got the technical chops for it, and the sympathy with your figures, so it's just a matter of making a choice. No offense intended - I think you've got a lot of talent working for you already.

Thanks for the critique.  No offense taken.  I do stuggle with this exact issue and waffle back and forth so your comments are appreciated.

Rather refreshing and bold style, impression and interesting portrait. Great contrast and eyes!
