This is from my hanging around the stables and horses, getting ready for the Trail rides and Rodeo here in Houston. This is one of my sister's horses. The Title is from the great Dan Fogleberg's song. This is digital from scratch, using ref photo by Daniel Shalloe.

Your choice of going to full-brightness lights on the horse only makes this really striking. I like the definition in the horse's surface as well.

Beautiful! I love the expression on his face. He looks like he just came back from a hard ride and is still all fired up! The lighting is perfect and I like the muted, uncluttered backround.

DM - Thanks - That look was partly experimental, but I think it works. I wanted all the color and def to be centered on the "Portrait"

Patrick, Gene - Thanks so much for the comments.

Gene-  This is fairly hard to pull off - where do you stop full color, and shift to stylized. The bkg. is for atmosphere and setting, so I wanted to minimize it.

Deborah - You caught it! The horse was being led back after a hard run. So glad you like it.

Wow, you are full of surprises!  This is so full of emotion. I love the way the head is focused and vivid. It is a "moment in time" and so fleeting. I love this.

Sarah - Thank you so much. As you probably read, it's rodeo time, and everybody is gearing up for it. This is just as you see it - a moment in time - I tried to soft focus and reduce all elements other than the "Portrait" part. I haven't done a bkg like this in a long time - it worked as I hoped..
