Maybe I'm obtuse but I don't get this.  The paintings themselves are great.

I think we are suppose to 'stretch' our imaginations....we cannot read the note stuck to his head though!

Could we get an interpreter?

Thank you.

I'd like to know what the note on his head reads too!  lol.

I'm thinking a soldier in Iraq the middle instead of olives would be a more profound message than olives?  That - I wouldn't have to stretch my imagination for.  ;-)

Nice art work!

Thanks everyone for your interest in my painting.

In Panel 1 I wanted the woman to represent all those who have lost loved ones or have an injured loved one due to the war in Iraq.  I cropped her face so she wouldn't have an ethnicity.  She's looking out of the canvas to represent our uncertain future.

Panel 2 represents GW's past. It makes reference to his alcoholism which is well documented. The olives float into panel 1 just to repeat the color and hold the 3 panels together.

Panel 3 has the coupon on GW's forehead which says "fill in this space".  I saw this coupon in a magazine for a mental health institution.  The coupon is supposed to look as if someone had slapped it on the painting while viewing it.  My original intent was to reproduce the coupon on a 5"x3" postcard, but I was concerned that the postcard would fall off over time, so I painted it.  Last but not least, is GW pledging with the wrong hand (left) or is he covering up the Iraq war?  You decide.

Oh, a SOCIAL commentary....panel #2 is just completely over my head, though.

But, You have realism down very well.

So, good luck with your career.

Can I fill in the space with "666"?

I think that the commentary is too obtuse - why are olives and being an alcoholic connected? A bottle of booze, yes, a martini glass yes, but an olive --- no unless you Americans have a different set of symbols or unless George W has spoken about olives?

The lady doesn't look like she's mourning a lost love - are you saying that George W's history as an alcoholic has directed his bad choices in waging war? Or that the whole American nation is drunk on its own inflated ego???  like the paintings and I don't think the symbolism for the meaning is adequate.

oops I missed the point - the olives are in the jar and the jar explains it all so sorry

Very nice artwork, but obviously difficult to understand. It looks like a name badge clipped to W.'s hairline.
