"Angel", study

This is a drawing assignment from Robert Liberace workshop.  Three color chalk on prepared paper.  The model reminded me of Italian drawings of angels or saints.   I tried to get that classic feel to it.

Beautiful drawing. Wonderfully drawing pose. You have a great eye for subtle shifts in tone.

Would you mind telling me more about the three color chalk on prepared paper?  What colors and how is the paper prepared?  Great work!   Jim

Sorry Jim for the delay.   Liberace uses watercolor to tone the paper (pastel/charcoal will work). Then you size it with 1 part amber shellac to 5 parts alcohol.   This prepares the paper.    The drawing is done with Verithin Prismacolor pencils in terra cotta, black and white charcoal.   If you want more info on this Robert Liberace has a DVD on the three color drawing technique. go to his web page.
