This egret flying in front of the riverbank caught my eye at the Fox River in my hometown of Batavia, Illinois on a foggy morning. a 12 x 16 oil on linen, I used a limted palette of 3 colors plus white trying to achieve a tonalist effect.
Two of my personal faves: Egrets and Mist. Wonderfully Executed. Great Atmosphere. Wish I had been there!
Thanks Skylar, It was difficult to keep such a narrow value range and have the effect of fog. I decided to make it more of a challenge by keeping to a limited palette of 3 colors plus white, which means all the greys were mixed from those colors. It was a weird morning, the fog was heavy, but beautiful, and nature was quiet and still except for the egret.
Oh I love this!
