We had these in flocks in the trees around our house in Costa Rica. Lots of noise to go with all that Fantastic Color. I took 2 days working on this - wanting to be quite realistic, tho I can't totally get away from all the impressionist influences.
One layer was used to digitally paint the bird. I then painted the flower on a second layer. On the third layer, I generated a gradient Bkg to really punch the colors on the bird. Appx 8x10 at 400 ppi.
