watercolor/gouache/ink, 15" x 22" 

My husband is taking a metal sculpture foundry class and I'm fortunate to be able to attend the pours.  Talk about a total art experience, these students design their sculptures, make molds, prepare the furnace and then pour the molten metals themselves!

I am fortunate to have seen "real blacksmiths" at work in the early eighties. It is sadly a dying trade. The atmosphere when they "sculp" the steel is still fresh in my mind. Beautiful composition. The rusty colours came out perfectly. Really nicely done
