I like the way this painting is painted.

The composition throws me off..

Everything is in the center of the painting with nothing to lead you in. My eye sits in the center of the painting and doesn't move...

I feel like the island is pushing forward toward me like some kind of crawling animal. The clouds are beautiful.

Susan Downing-White has proven here that if you know enough about what you are doing, you can break the rules in painting. This is almost centered, but she carries it off beautifully. Wish I knew enough about art to be able to figure out exactly why it works so well.
