#2 Jan. Photo Challenge

This was a skill builder exercise for sure. I'm not sure who built the shelf but they didn't make the bottom of the wood brackets the same ;)

There was a lot of dry brush with this and also washing off the back ground brick because I messed it up. Getting the little houses and their shading correct took some thought before I put the brush to it but I'm glad I toughed it out.  The actual painting is a little darker as the scan settings were off a bit. Waterclor and HB pencil on 9x12 coldpress watercolor paper.

Charlie I didn't come up with this composition. I referred to one of the photos on the January Media Challenge.  I believe Geri Berkenstock took the actual photo and included it with his others for this months Media Challenge.  The only change I made was to replace the reflection in the window with the pair of curtains.

Catherine, you did a great job on this.  You struggled a lot, learnt a lot and produced a very nice painting.   Congratulations!
