Dark Kiss, 20 x 20, oil on linen

I usually work on a painting until it has been completed. On occasion, I'll set a painting aside for some reason and complete it later. I began this Chocolate Kiss painting in June 2012, working on it and putting it aside several times. Finally (!), this oil painting came to a happy conclusion a few days ago in January 2013.

I think it was the purple/magenta foil that caused my dilemma. This is not a color that is usually on my palette and I struggled getting the colors just right.

This painting is on its way to Chasen Galleries in Richmond, VA

You really captured the sheen of the foil and the reflection on the table.  Perfect background.  Impressive painting.

I can see why you set it aside, all those reflections! You did a great job, that's a lot of chocolate! I'm about an hour North of you, next time I'm in Richmond I will stop by the gallery and check it out.
