What are your thoughts about this piece and the other piece that I posted entitled 'Set Sail'. I've been developing a sort of style of painting and I just want to know what others think, good, bad or indifferent. Looking for all thoughts and opinions in order to get better at what I do. I am not a trained painter/artist. I have just learned a little here and there along the way as I've painted along the way over the past 3 years

I like both of these.  I do suggest you do not use the black out lines but just use one value color against another value color.  That will define the objects just as well.  You do not see outlines in nature, just color against color.  I hopethis makes sence to you.

Yes i do understand, and thank you for your input! I have actually tried to make myself stop doing this, because i have observed in nature that you just simply do not see these lines everywhere lol. i guess it's hard to change old habits, because when i tried to use the same colors (as was in the object) to outline that object, it just didn't look as good to my untrained eye.... i guess the way i see things is still a work in progress. Thank you!

I like it, and I agree with Charlie the black lines are not your best option
