This watercolor shows my wife and our daughter-in-law (holding the camera) exploring a slot canyon in Tent Rocks. The National Monument is located about half way between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. It's painted on a full sheet of Arches 300 lb rough but I'm cropping the edges off to emphasize the vertical nature of the composition. I applied a bit of acrylic molding paste to the rock walls prior to painting. I also use liquid mask to protect some areas and used salt to create texture.
