When I first saw this, I thought "Hey this is a copy of Carol Marine's painting." I went to her site and found that it is a "daily paintworks challenge" in which people copy a photo. Hmmm? Not sure how I feel about this. I have mixed feeling about it being posted here without a disclaimer about its inspiration and source. If I didn't go back to Carol's site, I would have thought you ripped her off without realizing that your inspiration was from a photo that was provided to you.
KatPaints, This is indeed a DPW challenge and I usually state that but was in a hurry this AM when I posted it...the challenge was to make the photo your own...I totally changed the format, added a seagull, removed a lot of stuff from the photo and a third person...I took a rather boring photo and turned it into a story...I paint everyday so I enjoy all kinds of challenges...I am sorry if you have a problem with this but I invite you to participate at dailypaintworks.com...it opens you up to a whole community of artists and gives you the opportunity to see how others solve similar problems...on this site (Artist Daily) I see it as an opportunity to encourage other artists...some professional...some hobbiest but I don't see criticism as part of that....I did state it was a DPW challenge on my blog
me gustan los tonos de piel y el ángulo en que se miran los cuerpos
A couple of things: 1. I'm glad there is an element of keeping each other accountable as long as it's done in the right spirit. 2. Thanks for the heads-up to the Daily Paintworks Challenge. It's a great new resource of which I was not aware.
Be nice, people. Jim
I agree with karjdog's comment. Maybe if there is a problem a private message may be in order.
