Zambian Women & Children by Sharon Repple 11" x 14" acrylic 2012 Another commissioned painting from friend's trip to Africa. When I saw the color of the shirts and skirts, I knew this would be a great one to paint.
The colors are great...very nice!
I just found out the story behind my reference photo from the missionary who took the photo, "this is from the village of Chabalanda. We went there on a 4 day evangelism trip and gave them a new soccer ball. They played a game for us. These girls are from the Sinde choir who accompanied us to help us bring a message and also enjoyed watching the game." I think I will add a soccer ball to complete the painting.
Nice work! I'm sure your client is going to be very very happy! The colors are really great.....
The colours are marvellous and having the ladies looking into the picture makes us feel that we can join with them and look into the scene also. This is a really special series of paintings Sharon!
your paintings are always interesting.
I like this series, too. The clothing is done so well in this! I like the colors and patterns playing off one another.
Sharon. Very nice and the back story make it even better. Another fine job.
I received very sad news today, my high school friend who went on this mission trip and commissioned all of these paintings passed away at the age of 64. He had a very serious illness two years ago and had been doing better but on Friday his kidneys began to fail and he was admitted to the hospital. He was a very devoted Christian and was delighted to have the opportunity with his Mother to go on this mission trip to Africa. He even had plans to return next year. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers
It is difficult to make a comment after hearing of the loss of your friend but this painting is absolutley beautifully done the coloring is gorgious
Oh such sad news that the missionary has passed away. I just joined this group and thought your painting was just beautiful. The story that goes with it makes it even more so. Prayers for the family...
This is a lovely painting Sharon, gorgeous colors and compositon.
So sorry to read of the passing of your friend.
