Dear Ryan in regard of the preperation my support , i only use gesso 3 coats, and i would rather leave the gessoed panel for 2 days before i start painting .. thank you

Gouache is an opaque watercolor , it is some thing between watercolor and acrylic . I personally use both illustration boards and birchwoods for my gouache painting .
