If anyone can paint a horse without it looking like an aardvark in a toupee please give me some tips.
Actually, you're on the right track. It's pretty good. I suggest getting the books "Draw Horses with Sam Savitt", "Draw and Paint Realistic Horses" by Jeanne Filler Scott, and "Drawing and Painting Horses" by Barbara Oelke. These books will help you understand eqine anatomy , etc. Also, observing real horses and photos helps alot. (obviously, lol).
Oops...equine anatomy...lol.
Hardly an aardvark!! I too think you are on the right track.
Thanks, This is the hardest thing I have ever tried to paint, i think a lot of people struggle with horses. I didn't even attempt the body, with all the musculature and everything, too scary :)
Yes I know what you mean with the hair thing, last horse I drew looked like one of the Beatles, John Lennon I think,
You're welcome! Horses are difficult. I've been drawing them for about 40 years, on and off, and I still struggle. I started painting them about 2 years ago...yikes. My first attempts were ok, but sometimes I look at them want to burn them, lol. My more recent ones are better, but still not perfect. They are all posted here if you want to see them. Just click on the Sande tag under one of my posts.
