Hollyhocks (Handmade Paper)

I used a sheet of handmade paper that I coater with gesso. Then I used a pallet knife to apply some texture using light acrylic molding paste. I also protected the whites using liquid mask. In the beginning I used a lot of wet-n-wet techniques. I loved the way the gesso let me play with my watercolor pigments. I like deckle edges on handmade papers but decided to mat the edges off. Matted and framed the painting is 28 x 22 inches.

I didn't know watercolor adheres to gesso. Do you need to coat it with something when you are finished? Interesting technique and I love the outcome.

I like this! Thank you for telling in detail how you used mixed media.
