Cook Hut - Africa - Commissioned by Sharon Repple 11 x 14 acrylic   A friend of mine recently went on a mission trip to Africa and commissioned this painting from one of his photos.  The original photo did not have people in it so I added people from other photos to compile this painting.  I'm pleased with the painting but would really appreciate any comments about things you see that I should tweak.

Sharon, you have really created a wonderful warm feeling here - it reminds me of the Alexander McCall Smith novels.  Your composition allows the viewer to wander into the painting.

Michelle, thank you for your thoughtful comments, they are so encouraging.  Actually, it seems with the volume of posts now, comments are few and far between.  I have to admit that I don't comment as much as I did before but I do try to comment when I see paintings of some of the artists who have been posting for awhile or the ones who have taken the time to comment on mine.  A year or so ago we were quite honest with our critiques and I learned a lot from some of the more experienced artists. Miss that.  Probably one of the reasons I like to read your comments is that you seem to see the things I tried to accomplish in my paintings.  Also, I like having an artist friend in Australia.  Ha Ha  See you on Facebook!

The colors are warm and the hut is a dead giveaway that this place is in Africa.

The leaves on the trees are sparse. Perhaps one or two leaves on the ground or in mid fall?

Thank youTristan, I've never been to Africa but each picture displays the vastness of the land.  Philo.yan, thank you for your comment, actually the trees had new growth on them

I'm glad you've added people in this painting as apposed to wildlife and avoided the cliche. You've captured the African landscape beautifully and have done so in a very natural way.
