This charcoal and graphite image was a life study example in a drawing class I taught at RIT in Rochester, NY.
I was trying to demonstrate to the students the usefulness of the background in creating a narrative concept within a their work, even if it was just a study. I drew from a photo of myself and placed my image in the background creating a tension between the two portraiture's.
