Judge's Comments: Strong Composition, leading the eye into the painting with both line and great color accents. The strength of the boats and figures in the foreground are supported by the calm, muted background in such a way as to provide the perfect balance to move the eye through the painting. The light coming through the wall at the top of the painting is added sensitively so as not to distract but rather inhance the feeling of sunlight to this beautiful piece. - Kathryn Stats
