Stonework

Cascading down a steep alpine hill in Oregon's Wallowa Mountains, the granite formations in Stonework emulate water in their movement, and yet the sheer size and weight of the rockery maintains a sense of solidity as well.

I like the colourful tones in your foreground rocks and the work on your foliage - very nice.

I love the golden glow being cast on the rocks by the sun.  I would love to set my hand on the rock in the foreground and just hike up. Beautifully painted.

Beautiful harmonious painting, your paintings bring the viewer into the scene, I'm standing right behind the large bolder admiring the light flow across this scene.  I just read Celia's comment and I think we are both there ;-)

Wow-fabulous work. Great use of light and shadow and color in the foreground.

Thank you, everyone.

Michelle -- I like the pun as much as the compliment. Thank you.

Celia -- hiking up it was an unforgettable experience, and when you set your hand on some of the rocks, they were warm, despite the coolness of the air.

Sharon -- my wife is a big one about being "in" the painting, and she, like you, enjoys the sensation. You described the entrance point exactly.

Mark -- it was an enjoyable challenge working with the color in what people would largely describe as white rocks. So much color hidden, waiting to be exposed.

Anne -- warm and cool, light and shadow, yin and yang -- it's a definite push me pull me. I sought to get across the warmth of the sunlight in conjunction with the coolness of the atmosphere.
