This scene is from Chinatown in New York City. Much of my work is based on light and shadow distributions in proportions of 1/3 - 2/3. To explain further that would translate into 1/3 light to 2/3 dark or vice versa. This painting uses the 2/3 light to 1/3 dark arrangement. Lights and darks used in equal balance do not have the impact that this approach offers.
