My brother, Russell, gave me a photo he had taken of this dramatic sunset whilst fishing at Gunnamatta Surf Beach. I liked the diagonal shore in his photo and wanted to recreate the reflections in that shiny bit of sand where the waves have just gone out. I did this painting totally using the painting knife with acrylic paint - a very enjoyable experience! This was the first time I had painted a seascape which is ironic seeing I live in Bonbeach.
