A Time of Honor, 36 x 30, oil on canvas

This modern day American Indian is wearing a Mop Top, Feathered Hat or also called Mandan Headdress. The origin of this hat comes from the Dog Men or Dog Soldiers The Dog Soldier was a common society amongst most of the Northern Plains tribes throughout the 18th century. As most societies which exsisted, it was exclusive to those who proved their worth both on and off the battlefield.

Domestic Situation II

This is a black lithographic drawing plus a color tint. I want to cultivate a narrative whenever possible in my work. Themes like, "Highway to Heaven Series" and "Domestic Situation" are examples of two. The latter series was meant to explore tensions between couples that was inappropriate ie. mental or physical abuse.

There are many craftsmen out there that draw or render exquisitely but it is important, I believe, to bring additional dimensions to your work whenever it makes sense. I have always been interested in sound composition and playing with the subject-maters relationship to the picture plain. Illusions or visual conundrums can also add to the strength of a piece. For instance in this drawing there is a rendering of an image on a drawing of a limestone.

Afternoon at Baihai Park, Beijing

The Beihai Park was built in the 10^th century as the imperial gardens which has an area of more than 69 hectares witj a lake that coveres more than half of the entire park.. It was built to imitate renowned scenic spots and architecture from various regions of China. It contains numerous historically important structures, palaces and temples.

After the revoulation in 1925 the place has been open to the public as a park. Beihai literally means "Northern Sea" A local artist friend took us there one day to do some sketching, before long there was a large crowd watching us. There were so many breathtaking scenery I end up gave up sketching and taking photos instead. Here is my first painting from the Baihai Park
