Ben's Fine Art Gallery is celebrating its one year anniversary in Prescott AZ. The city of Prescott Chamber of Commerce and Mayors office is planning a RIbbon Cutting Ceremony Aprl 12, 2013 at Noon. The gallery will have live entertainment from Jazz Piano man Carl Dahlman. Additionally there will be drawing for prizes and gift certificates to the gallery. If you are in the Prescott AZ area on Aprl 12th stop by to help us celebrate. The gallery boast over 50 local artist on exhibit for sale at the gallery such as Doug Miley, Doug Oliver, Marc Ward, Kathy Gibbons, Robert Bissell and Cindy Shaffer just to name a few.

March 23 from 11 - 2pm Kiln Glass Artisan Cindy Shaffer will demonstrate her techniques in glass squares, glass sculpture and glass jewelry making at Ben's Fine Art Gallery located at 212 W Gurley in Prescott AZ 86301. Local Prescott artist Cindi has recently won awards for her mold/kiln glass style. Cindi will be working on her latest piece in the gallery and answer questions from the public. Free to the public and refreshments will be served.

Call for participation

Create an art work (graphic, paint, etc) starting from an A4 sheet of paper (21,7 x 29 cm), folded as indicated. Show us your art research or an art project.
Type and thickness of paper and the technique are free: you can paint, scribble, draw, make a acollage, write a text or poems, stick photos, etc...
We will exhibit your work at Circuiti Dinamici Association, in Milano, during fall 2012: from november 19 to december 5. We will also transform your little book in an e-book, and we will publish it on Apple iTunes and on Isuu, freely downloadable.
All works will be published on our website and will be our new artist archive.
Deadline: October 30, 2012

REWARDS

We will select, between all the participating art works, ten artists Under35 and ten Over35, and make them the winners of the virtual exhibitions microSpace and microRoom in 2013. Every winner will be on our homepage for a month and our staff will create a videopodcast with a text written by one of our art critics.
The panel, composed by art critics and curators from microbo.net and Circuiti Dinamici will be issued during the vernissage of the exhibition.
Winners will be released month by month, and news will be sent by press release and by email to our address book, composed by more than 5000 experts in the field of art.

REGULATION

The initiative has free theme, open to all the artists over eighteen, from all over the world. Artists as people working with visual arts, poetry, writing, etc... * The unique bound is the format: must be an A4 sheet of paper, folded as indicated in the video and in the image * Work must not be framed. * Tecniques of production are free. * Between al works arrived, microbo.net will select ten artists Under35 and ten artists Over35, who will win our virtual exhibitions microSpace and microRoom for 2013. * Partcipation is free. * The art work must be postmarked in original (we won't accept photocopies or reproductions, but just original works) by october 30, 2012, with the participation form printed, filled and signed. * Works without participation form, or with participation form unfilled or unsigned will be refused. * Every artist can participate with only one work. * Every participant is responsible for the content of her/his work. * The organization, while ensuring care for the duration of the exhibition, declines any responsibility for theft, loss or other events not predictable. * Please, send your work at the address shown at the end of the application form. * Works will not be returned, and are intended as gifted to microbo.net, who won't make any commercial use of them. * Participating in the initiative constitutes acceptance of the present regulations. * microbo.net believes in freedom of ideas and expressions that generate creativity and culture. Yes, you need to sign up in advance, however you can still email or call in your schedule. This has been taking place since April, it is really late, but you can still do it. I think?? Go to aamastersweekend. (There is a .com afterwards, but email info causes issues here.) If you don't live in California, you will need to call the hotel directly and make your flight plans today.

There is something quirky about posting every now and then. My previous post showed up in my email, but it did not post for a full day!

I've been checking into Przewodek and bought a few books by Hensche, Hawthorne and Henri. The "H" series of books. Since I'm going to her lecture I think I'd rather take a workshop with Serrano or Pinkham. I looked at their websites and like both of their styles. I'm leaning towards Pinkham because I really would like to shake up my color usage. I have heard Serrano is a good teacher. The only issue I have is that I need to choose between dropping Quang Ho or Anderson( both portrait). I like the loose fluidity of Anderson, but hear that Quang Ho is an excellent teacher. I'm debating on even taking a week long workshop with him at some point in time. .. All this could have been avoided if I just hit that refresh button when registering (my first choice classes filled even though I waited for registration to come online a half hour before.) Anyway I'm actually learning alot by looking into the instructors online, so it's worth it.

it is strange that I replied to you yesterday but when I clicked the "Post" button, it informed me that the site mediator has to approve the posting. And then my reply never showed up. maybe it was because when I was talking about Przewodek style, I included some links to The Henry Hensche Foundation, telling you that she uses his teaching methods since she studied under him. Maybe this site does not allow links. Anyway, I'll try posting again but this time without any links.

Last year I took a workshop with Frank Serano (among other master-instructors) and I liked it. It seems like everyone in that workshop liked his teaching methods and his personality. He connected really well with students of all levels from beginners to advanced. Other plein air instructors I took workshops with included Kevin Macpherson, Scott Christensen, Whitcomb. But they are not on your list of options.
