No more alla prima , I had to wait some days to make the colors dry. Also as from the magazine I could not figure out the color shifts, I went to Martinez site to see the original, and in this way I was able to finish the portrait. see more photos of the process on http://realpainter.blogspot.com/2011...

I just finished a piece with quite a bit of rough impasto passages and was looking for advice on how best to clean the surface before varnishing. Also, is it easier to spray on the varnish or brush it on. Thanks, Dastu

A really good tip that I just recently read about.. Make two piles of your white. One for dipping into for mixing your warm colors. And one for dipping into for your cool colors..
