  • Recent Marine paintings in oils.

I've been on a roll lately with marine paintings. I started doing one specific painting, which somehow led to several others, I guess when you are in the frame of mind to do something you have to just do it no matter what else needs your attention. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to...

  • Changing the Light

This is a painting that I did from my imagination. This was done with a limited palette typically known as a Zorn palette. I used Titanium white, Yellow Ochre, Cad Red and Ivory Black. It is a 12x24 inch painting on canvas. The first painting was my first attempt but the clouds looked very dull. So I...

Whitewater on the Potomac is an oil on linen 24 x 30. Never painted water like this and thought it a challenge and here is my result. I used a photograph that I took this past October when I visited friends in Maryland. Maryland is certainly a beautiful state with wonderful landscapes to paint.

This is an oil on canvas and is 16 x 20 in size. Started in Israel and finished at home. Mostly from memory other than a minimal sketch on the canvas.

  • Re: How to do Renoir pearl skin ?

I did this copy for a friend after studying the original that was shown at the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach, Florida. I thinkd that he used cadmium reds and cobolt blues mixed with white. He was criticised for his blue blotches in the skin tones. I regret that this photo exaggerates the blues. The...

  • Re: What are you working on?

I'm new to this social network and not sure where to respond to the initial question, so I'll just try to contribute some progressive photos of a painting. I take progressive photos of some paintings so I can remember what it looked like before it was finished and to revisit the stages of a painting...
