Thanks.

I don't know about a book. I will keep a watch out for that. I'm not sure that I know exactly what you are looking for, but have you looked at some of the video clips that we have online? Jeffery Watts comes to mind. I viewed a clip from one of his videos the other night. You might want to check that out. You also might want to ask Abraham Fisher if he can recommend anything. He has paintings here in the Gallery and paints with thick oils and palette knife in a manner that looks almost like mosaic tiles. It is possible that he would be able to recommend a good book.
Thanks Margo.
Antonin, Your question intrigued me so I did some surfing on the web. You can find a wealth of information using a search of "impressionists broken color". Generally it refers to painting objects by means of brush strokes of various colors placed next to each other. Instead of mixing colors together on a palette, as artists had done for centuries. For example, to show a green on the canvas, you would paint blues and yellows next to each other. I have several books on Impressionist painters that include examples of their work, which illustrate this technique - but not a text book that explains it. I'd suggest checking out Monet.
So I found couple books more and less on the subject :
How to paint like the impressionists - Susie Hodge
Techniques of the impressionists - Anthea Callen
Renoir - Anthea Callen
Painting the impressionist landscape - Lois Griffel
Antonin, thanks for sharing this. I will try to see if these books are available in this area.
Techniques of the impressionists by Anthea Callen is FANTASTIC ! If you do not have it you should get it, you will thank me later .
You can find it at amazon.com for $16.
Thank you, I will definitely look for it.
Thanks Antonin. I'll add this one to my wish list.
