I'm new to drawing and new to this forum. A friend at work who does beautiful portraits thought this drawing was good enough to let others see it. Let me know what you think, but don't be too hard on me.

Hello Megansdad,

This is a lovely drawing, especially for a beginner.  The flowers are especially well done.  Right now, your drawing has a distinct line quality to it, so it is somewhat stylized.  That is fine, it has an illustration quality about it.  But, if you're aiming to get more representational in your work, then look at focusing on how the light envelops the subject and gives it form.  You might find some of the articles in the "Topics' section helpful on beginning drawing.  Or, you might find looking at some other artists' work to be helpful.

Most important, keep going!  You're off to a great start!
