Last month my local art society presented a demo on Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) - these little gems are original works of art in any media that are produced on 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch cardstock, sheet canvas, bristol, etc. They are traded to other artists like baseball cards. So I used some of my left over pieces of Mi Tientes pastel paper and some colored pencils and charcoal pencils and produced some for trade. We had a lively trading session at our general meeting last night and I received some very nice pieces for my collection as well as got to know some of my fellow artists a lot better in the process. They were fun to do and gave me some nice sketching practice too! So here are a few of my first ones - what do you think?

Very nicely done.  I especially like the rabbit and the cardinals.  You caught their personalities well.

Thanks Robin - these were fun to do, and quick little studies. I don’t know if I will do them on a regular basis, but it was fun swapping with my artist friends and it is a good way to use up leftover art paper.

Anyone interested in exchanging artist trading cards?

Hi Dawn!

I would love to trade cards with you! Let me get a few more done and I will post a pic up and you can select which one(s) you would like to swap for. Glad to see you back on the forums too - I have been hit and miss for awhile too - my local art society keeps me hopping and I am trying to get some pieces done for shows this winter as well, so not much time left for computer at the end of the day :) Looking forward to seeing your ATC cards and trading :)

Awesome I will get them scanned , I am thinking maybe I should put them on my blog they are not all animals so maybe that’s best. I don’t have that many but have been thinking about working on them again this may be just what I need to do that.

Hi Dawn,

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you - I have been swamped between getting ready for shows and working on my full time job. I LOVE all your ATCs!! Very hard to choose - any of the horses or dogs would thrill me to no end to have in my collection! I will have some finished and posted up for you this coming weekend so you can pick from mine. Since you draw horses and dogs so well, did you have a particular subject you would like me to do for you? Let me know, thanks for being so patient with me. LOVE your blog too - awesome!!
