This is the first painting I have ever made. Is it eye pleasing? I think it is but I am biased.

Please give it a rating from 1 to 10 for this kind of style of painting. I won't be hurt. This was my first attempt and I have no formal training other than high school art class. I never got the chance or even knew about this type of painting when I was in school. When I saw some abstract art recently it made me want to give it a try for fun.

I find it "eye pleasing" as you said.  Of course Pollock leaps to mind as in all paintings of this genre I suppose.  Keep going with new work and see how you develop.

Thank you for the kind words. I will share a few more of my paintings later this week. I have made about 8 paintings now. I am also working on painting some junk objects I found at a flea market.

Here is another one that I like. It is small. It reminds me of space stuff.

Here is one more. Please be honest and let me know how these paintings make you feel. If you don't think these are art please tell me.

I might as well show one of the found items I have painted. I found a metal art deco era alarm clock case with no back or mechanism inside at a flea market for $1. I found a speaker for $1 at the same flea market that fit inside the case perfectly. I cut out a back made of birch plywood and bought a few switches, an input jack and a volume control. Then I wired up the LM386 amplifier from a schematic I found online and fit it all inside the case. Then I decided to paint the amplifier case. I was going to make designs but this is what I ended up with. I have painted on it for over 5 days and finally decided it is done. I know everyone that is looking at it is probably wondering why I painted the speaker and asking why did I not give it a speaker grille? I really don't have an answer but I felt it was more of a statement and work of art doing it like this. If you are careful not to put your fingers through the speaker it really sounds pretty good. Let me know what you think. I won't be hurt by criticism. I have very thick skin.

Here is one more of the back side because the light was reflecting on it funny in the last photo.

Tho i am definitely not an abstract artist I like your paintings and appreciate their similarity to those of Pollock ... Not everyone that tries to do works like his succeed ... Your paintings are lively and balanced ...  It looks like you had fun doing the painting and that's what it should be all about ... 8v)
