I am thinking about Sam and wishing her well.
Jen, Catherine, Here is another view of Aubrey that Easter. Maybe this one would be easier. I chose the first one because of her feet and the pose, but this one is more square on.
C & C Always Welcome
It takes courage to learn about oneself from one’s failures as well as from one’s successes.
OH I just found this one which shows her feet and she isn't leaning...
Jen, your Aubrey is lovely and the skirt has a bouffant look that is very pretty. Aubrey's picture just lends itself to these soft, airy looks that are so charming.
Catherine, your portrait of Aubrey's face on scratch paper is so successful, really lovely!
Comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated.
C & C's always welcome
Ohhhhh now you give us the easy one Marsha!! lol I got started on this one this morning. It's not near done and although the head seems large at this point I should be able to narrow in on the face well enough to identify it's size correctly. This is just winging it with a brush and watercolor. My focus has been getting that tilt of the head and this one isn't too bad. I know the nose seems big but that is temporary.
C&C's are welcome.
(No digital alterations please)
Best hope for a speedy recovery and short stay at the hospital Sam
Jen beautiful pencil and pen sketch very well done
Catherine you're not giving up they keep getting better I think WC is your medium
Two more options Marsha I like the full face one might give it a try what a beautiful child

First off..Sam I hope your feeling better today and getting ready to go home! My thoughts are with you.
Thank you Bonnie, Alex, Jim , Geri and Jen for your great feedback on my sketches and Aubrey progress. I love using graphite. I like the sound the pencil makes on the paper and the wonderful values you can achieve with it. It's a simple marking tool and I think that because it's such a familiar item in our lives that it has a comfort about it. Pencils in one form or another have been around forever it seems. You can keep one in your purse and add a little drawing pad and you're good to go. I get a drawing magazine and some of the work done with a simple graphite pencils is just unbelievable. I just love to draw. I'm also, and this probably isn't news to you guys but I'm finding certain brushes that I can't imagine life without. :) This evening I'll be seeing what i can do with the latest Aubrey painting I started this morning. My only goal has been to capture that head tilt and if I achieve nothing else I'll be happy.
Jim I love your creativity! It's as though, and Fred is the same way, there is a story behind every one of the paintings you and Fred put together.
Sam, hope you are doing well and will be home tomorrow.
Catherine, I love the way you can sketch with watercolours. I couldn't possibly do that. Nice start to Aubrey, I'm waiting to see what you do with this now.
Jim, Love your kestral. What a fantastic paiting. I hope the fairy saves herself and her frog, kestrals can be very much a preditor and you have protrayed that very well.
Bonnie C & C most welcome / appreciated
Worked a little this a.m. but I had to put on my hand brace and decided to stop. Less is more here and I'm going to finish the face up, add a couple more eggs and try to put some length to her leg as it's too short. I will put in the background work when I'm as done as I can get with this one. The head seems a little too big but I think with some shadows I can distract from that. I'm happy with the head tilt now.
Thanks Catherine and Bonnie
Starting to look great Catherine wo'nt take much to finish it
Thanks Jen. You can only alter watercolor marks so much and some colors can be pulled out better than others. My goal was to get that head and shoulder gesture. I put to much color down in the nose area and probably will only be able to correct it somewhat. We'll see how it goes. Up until now I've just been copying what I see in the photo and haven't done anything creative with it.
