I was inspired by the dark shadows and the church in a light area and the area of light coming from a side street throwing a section that is highly illuminated against the bluish cast of the snow. I stepped out into the street to take the photo. I also like the intricate architecture of the Yale buildings and I wanted to get the cars in there hopefully showing motion.

It is a lovely painting, depicting the soft light of late fall, a bit cool but still some sunlight,

loved the serenity of the scene
