Sam I like them both.  Looks like you put in some thought in what pattern to use where.

I stayed up all night wondering where the sun went then it dawned on me.

Geri, I like your intensifying the background colour on the kingfisher but I think the kingfisher is a little light now.

Jim, love your frog romance ptg and I think every romantic interlude deserves a fairy surounded with wonderful flowers. Great challenge theme interpretation.

Oh My!!  Sam, I love your zentangle. Your patterns are great and I think these birds are fancy enough to carry off the circle on the left one. I really like your shading that brings out their shapes. I'm with Jim about the colour verses black and white. I think without seeing the other either one is spectacular.

Sammy sorry I missed these. Great work with the zentangle parrots. I agree the left one looks more three dimentional than the one with the circle which looks a bit flat. I think I like them better in black and white too. Still a great effort. They look like a lot of fun to do.

What you didn't recognize me.

Just something from my sketchbook.  I am thinking about doing a self portrait and this was a little study.  Here is a bigger view..

I stayed up all night wondering where the sun went then it dawned on me.

It looks pretty good. If you go to the WC portrait forum they have a huge thread of just self portraits. You could spend hours going through them and all so different. Then do your own. It isn't easy especially if you do it from a mirror but you learn a lot!

WOW! a ton of bustling activity...  like I said in the Chatter,  I have been super busy.  Many concerts and have had to write a couple of reviews.  My 49ers lost...  booo hooo....

Cath your kingfisher drawing is devine..

Jen your finished martini glass is lovely,   elipipses and all.   your background is just right.    I would like mine with an olive please..

Bonnie:   maybe you can serve me with an olive....  I love the background color, its a personal favorite.  your greens have a great contrast.   I'm just sorry the picture didn't have any ingredients inside the glass.

Geri:  both your before and after are nice, maybe a tad darker on the back of the bird...  I use STONEHENGE  paper...   not stonebridge, although that would make a great name for pastel paper...  You did a great job on the swans...      regarding your new AVATAR.....  hmmmmm big brother is watching....   we are being spied upon....

Bonnie:   your swans are lovely,,,,  I like the india ink... great contrast with the Swans

Jim:   I'm glad the frog found someone,,, I bet the fairy is too,  now she can go about her business of sprinkling pretty dust on those beautiful iris.

Sam:  Your Zen doodle - tango - tangle.... is great,  what a fun thing to do ....  the shading makes it... the values are great.

Tried the snow scene, I used some new paper I purchased awhile ago, kind of expensive so save forever and finally thought If I don't try it I'll never know if it's any good. It's called swayeded paper, not sure of the name brand, purchase as loose sheets. I really like it, has a flat surface not like the pastel papers and seems to hold the pastel. The paper comes coloured and this was a baby blue colour and 1/4 of the sheet. It is 7 X 9.

Bonnie, what an opportune time to paint a snow scene.  I don't envy those folks in the northeast who are snowed in.  I love your rendition of the snow scene with the warm pink sky which is reflected in the snow.  You did that big tree very well.  The atmosphere looks like a cold winter day.  Nice painting.

Bonnie, you have really captured the light and atmosphere that attracted me to this photo. I am glad you tried it. Great job on the tree and I like the way you used the darker pines to highlight the almost sketetal white of the snowy tree branches in the background. I have never tried that paper but I know a lot of animal artists love it..

Yay, my laptop is finally back from being repaired! I gave myself two hours today to complete a WC pencil drawing for Jen's challenge, so here it is. "Martini Glass and Olives" is 2-1/2"x 3-1/2 inches on hot-pressed WC paper. As soon as this is posted, I'll comment on the postings in the last couple of days - wow, some beautiful work!
