A Gal Named Sam:Another thing that helps is Caran d'Ache Neocolors which is water soluble crayons
Sam you have said that before and I bought one to try. It does a great job on everything I have used it on but the cont'e crayon isn't as waxy and worked better in this case.
C and C always welcomed
Oh the dreaded ellipses. Jen this is a very nice painting except for you know what. The highlights and shadows on the glass are very good. I might have a go at this one since I have never done glass and it may be interesting. What am I saying there are two ellipses in this photo.
I really like your ptg Jen, very romantic feel to it. Love the highlights on the glass that make it sparkle and love your background colour. I like your rose to, it looks like you could just pick it up. A nice romantic ptg.
Bonnie C & C most welcome / appreciated
Kingfisher part II
I added some darks and intensified the blue and orange. Some improvement what do you think???
Gerii Yes well done. Now maybe some more colour on his back and sharpen his beak to stand out some more. Or ignore me!!:)
C & C's always welcome
Jen. Elipses are tough. I wouldn't say I hate them but they do take me to school everytime. I think the background on your rose and glass looks very nice. and you've allowed it to show through the glass just like I would think it should. It almost seems like the eye level of the top of the glass is a little to high and I don't know how you would correct that. Using pencils it would just be a matter of using an earser but pastels is out of my knowledge area. It's really not that bad of a painting though.

I love the background changes! This is a great watercolor Geri!
Jen, my computer has been down since yesterday afternoon and I thought I had caught everything. Thank goodness that Catherine commented on your rose and glass because I missed it. Your glass sparkles and looks like glass for sure. The rose is pretty and the leaves are nicely done. I like the various colors of the shadow of the rose. Very nice little painting.

Jen I can't see anything wrong with a painting as nice as this who cares if elipses aren't perfect
Geri I liked your first post and I like this one you are also too hard on yourself
Again I took a complete departure looking forward to spring

Geri, I like the updated kingfisher. Great textures and colors.
Jim, you are an expert with flowers. Love these irises. I looks like froggy may have another love interest. Could it be that the fairy is jealous? You know how it is - you don't want it until somebody else has it!
I see a love triangle brewing here. Nice job Jim
Here are the Amorous Avians in Zentangle. I like the bird on the left very much. I'm not too thrilled with the circle on the chest of the one on the right. This is 5"x7" on hot pressed watercolor paper.
This is just too give you an idea of how it would look with color. I didn't try to do a perfect job with the ColorSoft colored pencils. I think I like the Zentangle much better without color.
