C&C welcome!
Hello Kim,
owners have it placed above their fireplace...ferns = bracken (play on the name of Bracken...good old symbolism).
Egg tempera is only water colour plus egg yolk so can be used together in the same painting...especially for details. I used to mix my own egg tempera but it may be bought in tubes now.
Thanks for commenting, much appreciated.

I love the "flower and glass" because I have a dear friend (cousin) who loves Martini's. This captured my feelings to a very sweet person. This is done in watercolors, 8X10 Strathmore 140# cp paper.

Critique and criticism appreciated.
Joyce, your swan is beautiful. I love it. The first thing I thought was what Jen said. Darken everything around the swan and it will pop. Not only to I love the swan but also the yellow sky. Very nice painting.
Sarah, Biscuit and Bracken are adorable and you did a fantastic job of portraying them in watercolor. The fur is done so well and their faces are gorgeous. I like the addition of flowers and ferns. Beautiful painting that the owners will surely love.
Jean, very pretty wine and rose painting. The glass sparkles beautifully. The rose is very pretty but if you darken in the deep crevices, I think it would look more 3D. Nice painting nonetheless.
Well as I didn't get out to art today i played around with my WC again. As I have said not my best medium. I thought as everyone was avoiding the cake I would have a go. It probably put pounds on me too Joyce as it sure as heck gave me a hard time!! The top went quite well but it was downhill from then on. I tried wet on wet for the aluiminium and that didn't work very well! I even chucked some salt on it to see what that would do! I nearlly binned it but I thought if I showed you my faliures it might inspire you! So here is my rubbish ettempt for the afternoon!.
6x4 wc paper
Of course I could blame those foul elipses!
Jen you BRAVE soul.... It is cute. The chocolate does look like chocolate... what colors did you use for that part? The Cake has texture, the dollops could use a little shading on the back ones. All in All I think you did a Grand Heaping job on a Heaping hard Project... kuddos kid.

C & C Always Welcome
It takes courage to learn about oneself from one’s failures as well as from one’s successes.
Jean, how did I miss your darling painting of the children walking in a park. you captured the essence of the walk and it looks as though the younger one is really in a hurry to get where he wants to go and is pulling the little girl along to share it with. Darling ....
Jen, your sketch captures the same momentum of the picture. I love the style of clothes your daughter enjoyed and the added leggings and what a courageous story about the little boy. I'm so happy he is ok now. The little boy next door had a tumor removed on his brain at Shriners Hospital, and has been going back for checkups since for several years now. Last week he got the all clear and is cancer free, now he has to have his eyes operated on as they ended up crossed due to the first surgery. He is such a nice kid and so loving.
Bonnie, Your winter scene is wonderful, I love the winter misty look and the colors are my favorite. It makes me want to put on my down jacket and go out and just enjoy the scene. Its like driving home and you see your home in the distance and know that is where your heart is and it will be warm and snuggly inside. you positioned everything just right so you look at everything and take it all in, it definitely tells a story. good job
Dave, your Kingfisher in oil is done especially well, I love the pointillism method with your brush, I'm definitely not brave enough to tackle that style and you do a great job of it
Sam did so well with her grand kids walking and pointillism as well.
Jen, The Small One is sooooo cute, what a great memory. You did a great job on his skin tones, eyes ear, hair ..... oh heck you did a great job period. and it appears to be a very difficult pose to tackle, but nothing deters you.... Good Job....
Bonnie your winter scenes in ink were a joy to look at as well, good job with a very unforgiving medium.
Geri and Jen. I always miss a good party, I will be late to my own funeral... I hope you all enjoyed the cake.... and whatever else it was served with...... Next time I will read my mail Although it looks like Jen baked another cake... hmmmmm anyone up for another dessert? I think her Small One made it and with no help from the adults either....
Thank you Sam and Jen...I appreciate your comments very much.
Never seem to have the time to comment on all the interesting work here on AD.
