Fixative

Hi all...

 

Wondered what sort of fixative you recommend for charcoal.  I have used hairspray in the past but wondered if there was a more "professional" alternative.

Hi - Hairspray gets too "gunky" and can discolor your art work. It may be cheap but the possibility of ruining art work isn't worth the risk. Anyway, that's my opinion. I was an art teacher and never allowed my students use hairspray as a fixative.  Go to your local art supply store and ask to see what they carry.  They should help you and answer any questions.  Good luck!
