Every so often I revisit the thrift stores in search of new still life objects, and rarely do I leave empty handed. My most recent trips were no exception. And now in turning to still life again, I have a bunch of brand new-to-me things to look at and study. I first use them to make drawings. I want to understand each object a little better before I commit to doing a large still life set up or a complicated painting. So, that's what I'm doing lately -- turning my new still life stuff round in my mind, examining the possibilities for each thing, getting ideas. I write about some of this at my blog.
Sometimes I draw in pen, as in the notebook drawing above. Sometimes I use other media and focus on individual objects. But I love to plan and dream before I paint. http://alethakuschan.wordpress.com/2012/11/20/taste-testing/
Very nice drawing. I hope you get a lot of paintings out of this.
