I'm a beginner at painting. I started this painting and am a little stuck.....the flowers seem to be just floating, I think I need some sort of leaf or leaves? Also, the flowers seem to be lacking dimension. There is some detail in the flowers that you can't see in the picture. Please let me know what you think. Keep in mind I'm a beginner and am just looking for help.

I think you have a great start with your painting! what i would suggest is don't be afraid of shadow!!! you have a lot of highlights there, but what is making your flowers look dimensionaless is the lack of dark shadows, if you thing of the flower and where the light would touch the flower and where the shadow would fall on the flower from the light then that will tell you where to put the darker colors, and as far as the floating maybe you could paint some bambo shoots coming up from the bottome that you can attach them too! Good luck with your painting! and i hope you keep working at it! after all practice makes perfect!
