Welcome to All Media Photo Challenge #16 – February 1, 2012—March 1, 2012
Challenge: Create artwork based on any or all of these photos and themes. Use any medium and any style. Stick to the photos(s) exactly or just use them as a starting point-feel free to change colors, composition, add or subtract elements or take a complete departure. In other words, HAVE FUN and keep painting.
Target Posting Date: - February 1, 2012-March1, 2012
BE SURE TO POST WORK HERE IN THIS THREAD SO OUR CHALLENGES WON'T GET CONFUSED WITH EACH OTHER.
Another Posting Notes: When you post your painting, be sure to “sign” your post with the name that you wish for participants to use when reply to your post. We are gaining new participants all the time and it is sometimes difficult to remember who posted what. An alternative would be to create a “signature line” that will automatically appear on each one of your posts. (If anyone needs instructions on how to do that, let Holly know and she will send instruction to you.)
To submit photos and suggestions for these challenges, please start a “conversation” with Holly ( holland2) here on this forum and attach your photo or photos. OR – volunteer to host the thread for a specific month. Check out the Volunteer Hosting Schedule thread.)
Happy Painting!
Challenges:
1. Monthly Theme: Since this month is the month of love -Valentine day is on the 14th, the Challenge is for you to dream up what you want to give to or receive from your Love One(s), be it flowers, jewelry, watch, etc. Draw and/or paint it and post it here for us to see. Also any item relating to Love and Valentine day is encouraged and welcome.
2. Morning walk. My niece made a trip to Japan and came back with several nice photos, here is one of them.
3. Mountain in Oregon. This photo is taken by me when I went to visit my son and his family in Bend Oregon.
4. Flower of Love. I took photo of this red rose at my friend's garden. The sun was strong and washed out some of the red but it's still beautiful.
5. Beautiful Skies. These were taken by me from my balcony looking across the water way to the east. I have a view for sunset too but do not have good photo at this time.

HAPPY PAINTING EVERYONE!!
Sandi
C&C are welcome and appreciated.
Sandi - YAY! You did it! This looks great and love your photos - all of them! I am a "kitty person" so Cotton certainly attracts me; and your neice's photo from Japan is just so calming. Love that rose and those magnificent skys, too - WOW. Lots of great choices for everyone. Thanks so much for hosting this month.
Holly
C & C always welcomed and encouraged.
Jen C & C's always welcome
Well, Sandi, you certainly made this easy for me. If I can paint what I would like my hubby to give to me then I need to paint the moon. Simple! Of course you know, I don't expect to get it. I have a good thought along those lines though.
Great colors in that Japanese landscape Beautiful snow capped mountain/lake scene. Love the rose - will enjoy seeing Jen's version in yellow, Great skies. Very tropical looking bait house. And Cotton is adorable. We should see some interesting, beautiful paintings from these reference photos. Thanks for hosting this month.
Sam/Sammy C & C Welcome

Thanks, Holly, Sammy and Jen for warming up to my reference photos. Hope other people like them too. Sammy, had I known you want the moon I would have posted the moon photo Just for you. I have one that is very nice.
You guys wouldn't know, I had a hard time with the template due to technical difficulties relating to the difference of document programs. Resulting in countless e-mails to and from Holly and me. One more panic phone call later, then things started to fall into places. Thanks Holly for putting up with me through the days and nights. You are always a big help. This is a good experience for me.
GREAT JOB! good pictures, I love kitties as well. your fire sunset is a wow factor as well. I will get busy so much to choose from and all wonderful subjects.
MARSHA
C & C Always Welcome
It takes courage to learn about oneself from one’s failures as well as from one’s successes.
Good Job on the photos's. You had to go and put skies in there huh? Like them both, and the Japanese lanscape and lake scene. I just might get more than one done this month. Look forward to seeing the outcomes.
Dave
AKA Grizzly Painter...
C&C Welcome
Marsha--Love your new avatar, I can see your beautiful happy face well. Nice photo. Can't wait to see your artworks. I am waiting to see who will be the first one to post.
Dave--I am glad that I can please you, the Master of the Clouds. I was thinking about you when I was choosing and posting these cloud photos. The Japanese landscape sounds like a hit for everyone. I love it too. The lake and mountain is nice too and is special for me because that's where my love ones live. I can imagine my two little grand daughters sitting in that boat. I am looking forward to see your cloud works first though.
Sandi: Great reference photos!!!
Looking forward to seeing what great art this challenge brings out - hope to be able to actually do one or two instead of being a wall flower.
Great ref pics, Sandi! I love all of them as well. Hopefully, I can manage my time and emotions better this month and keep up with what everyone's doing. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with, too.
Cindy
Cindy...last name Learn- C&C's always welcome.
Sheila: I am soooo glad that you said you might be able to actually do some of this month's Challenges. If I can stoke your fire and get you from being a wall flower to be the flower in a nice vase, I would be very happy and honored.
Hi there, Cindy-- Long time, no see. I have been thinking of you often, I think I mentioned you here once after you came back and had to flip five pages to catch up. Thanks for showing up and being pleased with my references. I remember that you were always the first one to post, and we all admired your artwork. Watercolor is not an easy media but you can master it so well. But if you want to try other media we would be cheering you all the way too. I have tried some new media and like/don't like some, the one I don't like I would just put it away and go back to the ones that work better for me. Like you, Watercolor is my favorite. Hope you can find your time and energy to show us some more of your work. Maybe you will be the first one posting for this Challenge too.
