American Artist used to be owned by Nielsen, a pretty large media company mostly focused on business-to-business. Earlier this year, we were purchased by Interweave which is a media company focused on arts & crafts enthusiasts. This is a GREAT fit for us and we're excited to be part of the Interweave family.
As part of the change, however, we had to move our web site completely off of Nielsen's systems and onto something else. The old forums were on a Nielsen owned server and thus we had to leave them behind. Unfortunately that also meant that we had to leave the old discussions and user accounts behind. It was just too complicated to move them all over here.
In its place we've launched this new online community and we're really excited about it! It's so much more than just a forum. You can now create your own groups around whatever topic you're interested in ... geographic locations, artistic style, "left handed artists who are also dentists" ... whatever! We also have the ability for you to upload your artwork both in our forums and in a new media gallery section. We'll also be uploading images to the gallery. You can connect with other people in the community and "friend" them, and we'll have multiple blogs coming shortly.
This is just the beginning. Soon we'll be moving all of the content from the old site over here and building it out even more. So jump in, have fun, and stay tuned ... there's a lot more coming your way!
