Welcome to ALL MEDIA PHOTO CHALLENGE #12
Challenge: Create artwork based on any or all of these photos and themes. Use any medium and any style. Stick to the photo(s) exactly or just use them as a starting point - feel free to change colors, composition, add or subtract elements or take a complete departure. In other words, HAVE FUN and keep painting!
Target Posting Date: - September 20, 2011 – October 18, 2011
BE SURE TO POST YOUR WORK HERE IN THIS THREAD SO OUR CHALLENGES WON'T GET CONFUSED WITH EACH OTHER.
Another posting note: When you post your painting, be sure to “sign” your post with the name that you wish for participants to use when replying to your post. We are gaining new participants all the time and it is sometimes difficult to remember who posted what. An alternative would be to create a “signature line” that will automatically appear on each one of your posts. (If anyone needs instructions on how to do that, let me know and I will send instructions to you.)
(To submit photos for these challenges, please start a "conversation" with me here on this forum and attach your photo or photos.)
Happy Painting!

C & C's always welcome
Mt goodness, but the months roll by fast. A month seems like a week! There's some nice reference photos to choose from. Looking forward to all your creations.

Holly - Very good references. I like all of them esp. the Trumpeting Angels for Christmas. But tell me how to not clone all the angels. Johannes would have a fit. I may have to dress them in different colors outfits. LOL.
Sandi
C&C are welcome and appreciated.
Thanks Jen and Sammy! I can't decide which is my favorite - I like them all, too!
Sandi - Johannes certainly does "shout" about "clones", "soup bowls". and "triangles" - and I see a lot of them in the Trumpeting Angels. I'm not sure any of those "no-no's" would apply on this one, though! Maybe we can say that since the perspective issue makes them all different sizes and slightly different angles that they are not really clones. Works for me!
I was told I should post my leaf painting in the challenge area so here goes. I used watercolours and the paper is 11x14". I found leafs not easy to paint. Keeping the leafs separated so that each one had a look of its own wasn't a easy task. I brought in leafs and layed them out and when from there. The back ground I re-did 3 times to get it dark so the leafs popped and I could have gone darker.
Joyce
All C & C's always welcome
Beautiful fall leaves, Joyce!
Cindy...last name Learn- C&C's always welcome.
Look! Here's 3 deer. I had this pic I had taken at Magnolia Plantation, so I cheated a little. This is 18x24 pastels. I'm not sure if I should leave it alone now.
Joyce, your fall leaves are still very pretty and well done.
Cindy, you got a really good shot of the deer. The two left ones even appear to be showing some emotion. Nice composition. You did a great job with it. Good colors on the deer. Take a bow!
Thank you Sammy, There were 2 more deer in the ref pic that I had to leave out, and I shifted the one over. I have since reddened up the "straw" in the foreground (it's sand in the photo) and the bg has a fence that sits right across the middle of the horizon with chicken wire. I think I probably bit off more than I can chew, but it was fun trying. I think I'll tone it down and try the angels today with some watercolors.
Thank you Jen. I can't wait to see your finished flowers. Our best work is always what we're passionate about, it seems. And those are the ones we don't want to let go of. I wish you the best in the competition. I'm sure you'll do well!
Joyce, beautiful, the brown leaves actually look like crisp fall leaves....
