I was just introduced to an artist that blew me away. I began to think of how many artists are out in the world which have achieved a wonderful body of work but are not as known as a Banko or Richard Schmid.
His name is Bato Dugarzhapov. Since we have trouble with web addresses here, google his name or google "eyelikey" and he is currently being featured. Check under September and you will see a landscape exhibition. I particularly like Thomas Sgouros and Diebenkorn.
Do you know of an exceptional artist? Please share.
THIS IS AN ONGOING POST SO READ THE END - SCROLL DOWN.

You were contemplating the idea that there are probably many artists who have done wonderful work and yet have never become well known. That reminded me of something Sammy Davis Jr. once said, "No matter how famous you might be, there's probably some guy with a lot more talent waiting on tables in Cleveland or somewhere—just because he never had a break."
On your suggestion, I just looked at some of Bato Dugarzhapov's paintings. You are right his work is excellent. He has a wonderful manner of capturing the effects of light and color.

Thanks for sharing this great thread with me, i really glad to visit here.
Welcome to my paintings website - Wholesale Art Mall.
In the tradition of Fechin, here is another artist to check out --- Nikolai Blokhin.
Add the www to get this link -- nikolai-blokhin.com/cat66_74.html Also google him.
Visited the Nikolai-Blokhin site - very nice. Thanks for posting this information.
Here is another, keeping in line with Russian painters - Konstantin Ivanovitch Gorbatov 1876 - 1945. Google this post impressionist painter.
So I've listed 3 Russian (male) artists :
Bato Dugarzhapov, Nikolai Blodkin, Konstantin Ivanovitch.
I thought maybe I would search out some even lesser less known artists(female)that are trend forward. I think it's nice to see realism that doesn't look like it comes from the society of anachronism. So here's to feminine flare!
Again google since links do not always work here - Holly Farrell, Janet Hill Studio on Etsy. I will find a few more names since this look is popular and I've even found a few of my personal paintings that head this direction.
Here is another - Alex Kanevsky. I'm not fond so many nudes, but I like the way he handles his brushstrokes so confidently. I like loose expressionistic strokes.
...to add another name to the list... Jody DePew McLeane. I found an old postcard, her website is depewpastels.com
Here is another Elizabeth Mowery pastels.

I've posted several other artist since Bato, hopefully everyone reads through the posts and checks them out. I just searched for Dugarzhapov and I'm glad I did, most everything is new and winter related. He's Russian - of course he'd have winter scenes. I don't know what it is about Russian painters but I love the abstract nature to their realism.
