Ok, Karen. Here is one. It is my ugly rock painting. I am not very happy with it, but it was even worse before I added the gouache to it. It has gone from ugly-ugly to just ugly. I figure that is a step up. Well we can't win them all, and I am having fun learning. It is a lot easier for me to experiment on the paintings I don't like and to learn on them than it is for me to try to learn on the ones that I like. Thus, I am grateful for my ugly painting because it has given me something to experiment on.

Thought I would go ahead and post a comparison here. The first time I did this painting, I finally resorted to a very small amount of gouache on the painting and went back over the water with cerulean blue because I was so disappointed with the way the water had turned out. Here is my second try. I used a limited palette of Indigo, Yellow Ochre, and Permanent Carmine. Hope it is OK to include this on this forum. This one is not mixed media.
