Jen, you stay safe. The tornado news is horrible and very frightening. It is difficult to even imagine devastation in that extreme. We went you to be safe.

I like your start on the red tulips. I'll stay tuned to watch it develop.

This is what I started at art studio today.

11x12 canvas acrylic underpainting and oil. the dark is darker and not so blue on the left. More dark and reds and blues.

Ooh how terrible. Poor woman. Well I got as far as the cupboard tonight but the storm has moved off for a while although there are some more on the way. The weather men are still excited As you say Gerri the joys of living in Arkansas. I may try and fire up the mainframe in a minute!

This is a little gory.

When we were living there and my wife was an RN in Jacksonville one came through and almost removed Cabot from the map. She was called in and was helping with a woman that had a 2x4 come through the window of her car. It sliced her open right under her boobs and she was assisting with sewing her up. The Dr. had to run his hand up under her skin and clean the debris out. She said it almost made her sick.

We are currently under all kinds of watches, and tornado warnings as series of lines of storms come through. The meteorologists are having an excited ball! In view of the nasty storm at Ok city we are paying attention. It is typical of this time of the year here but some you just watch closer. I painted today but have shut off the computer until things calm down. Keep safe.

Thank you Alex, Sam and Jen. I feel better today and went back to work this a.m. I think part of the process of drawing is also learning what size of a drawing works best. I tend to lean towards bigger drawings and enjoyed working the size of the last pencil sketch at the bottom left more than the small ones. Not sure why but I suppose learning what sizes of art that feels right to you is also part of the process. Practice practice :)

Fred your mountains are so nice and the sky is beautiful. You have such a unique style!

Catherine, I am so sorry you have been fighting a tooth infection. I do hope it all cleared up now. I love your garden and the angel statue. She does go perfectly there. You have a good set up on your patio to take out you WC and just have a wonderful time.Your head drawings look good and are great practice and the bust looks more solid and accurate in the second one.

Catherine, it was so good to see that you had posted this morning. I was aware that you haven't been posting and was hoping that all was well. So sorry to hear about your tooth infections. Hope it is better now.

Your yard angel is a good subject for painting and will give you good opportunity to practice the portrait and the figure. You are doing well with practicing the human face and its proportions. I have a small drawing pad filled with drawings of skulls like your first drawing. You will find that helpful. I think you have the proportions down.

The busts are looking real good. I like the variety of colors and values on the one on the right. You got the facial features and the ear better placed on that one, too.

Catherine, I'm sorry to hear about your tooth infection and am glad you're feeling better. Your face studies are wonderful! I especially love the goddess on the upper right. On the bust, the graphite adds an interesting dimension with more contrast. And, your garden is beautiful. The statue looks right at home there.

Here is the bust watercolor with a second bust. the first one is just watercolor and brush and the second one has some water soluable graphite. 14 x 12 on watercolor paper from a huge 42 inch x 10 foot rool. I streched it myself and there seems to be a cut in the paper on the second bust. Not sure how or when that happened. It's Bee watercolor paper and is a very light weight so I can't use too much water on it but it's good for practice. It's going to take a bit to catch up on all of your great paintings and drawings but I will get there. Wanted to say hi and let everyone know I'm still around.

Here is a sketch I did yesterday. I'm working on learning the proportions of the head. It's on sketch paper folded in half so it's 12x18. I find it's easier to sketch on larger areas of paper. I started on the top left and ended at the bottom left before my daughter kidnapped me and took me to dinner. HB pencil and a brown drawing pencil.

Marsha I'm sorry to hear your dogs are still missing. I can just imagine how heartsick you are but Jen is right in that you never know, they may come home or someome might find them.

Sam, I've been thinking about you and will read the past posts to catch up on how things are going.

I developed a very bad tooth infection mother's day weekend and other than the dentist, had not left my house until just yesterday. I'm sharing some drawing's I've done though and a picture of my big English garden angel I took out of my living room and put under my Dogwood tree yesterday. She is aprox. 44 inches tall and very heavy. I wanted her outside with some shadows and weather. I'm looking forward to sitting outside to paint/draw her.

Marsha sorry to hear the dogs are still missing. It's not knowing what happened to them that hurts as well as missing them. My daughter's ca't turned up three months later skinny but well. He had been living under someone's porch a block away and apparently couldn't find his way home. So you never know. I appologuise for putting my pot men on the challenge and not the Chatter page. Not thinking!
