Hello -

I'm new to this forum and hoping for some critical feedback.   I earned my BA in graphic design and so trained in drawing and design but ended up pursuing a long career in a very non-creative field.  15 yrs later I took my first painting class Oil Painting 101 and was hooked.  I've been painting almost strictly in oils for 5 years now, but not as often as I'd like.

I've sold a few other florals online and I'm working up the courage to approach a gallery.  I'm posting a couple of paintings which I love but I think could be better if I could put my finger on the necessary adjustments.

I painted this peony from a photo. It's a 16 x 20 oil on stretched canvas.  I love the flower and shapes of the petals but it feels like the composition is off as if it's floating.

I'd appreciate any criticism, including my choice of subject.  I was told by my teenager that I paint "fluffy".  :)
